The Island Reserved for One Story

A Full Buyout of Soneva Secret

A full buyout of Soneva Secret, created for one family, celebration or inner circle in the Maldives. Up to sixty guests stay across beach and overwater villas, with full board included and each villa cared for by its own dedicated team. Days unfold through deserted-island breakfasts, reef expeditions, private chefs, moonrise dinners, children's adventures, wine cellar evenings, marine conservation and stargazing with Soneva's resident astronomer.

Experience Overview

Rare Experiences. Held by One Island

Soneva describes true luxury as something rare, unusual and exceptional, but also deeply desired and cherished. This buyout is built around that idea. The island becomes the setting for a week of experiences that feel both generous and personal: mornings on empty sandbanks, afternoons in the water with marine biologists, evenings around fire, and nights spent beneath the stars.

The Island

The Island

Soneva Secret sits in the remote Makunudhoo Atoll, far from the familiar routes of the Maldives. With the whole island reserved, every beach, villa, boat, restaurant and quiet corner can be shaped around the people you bring.

The Experiences

The Experiences

The days can move between Champagne sunrise breakfasts, dives into the reef, private dinners on deserted sandbanks, slow afternoons in the water with marine biologists, cooking classes and stargazing. Each day is curated, but never forced.

The Soneva Rhythm

The Soneva Rhythm

The island follows Soneva's Slow Life philosophy — thoughtful, nature-led and deeply personal. Service is intuitive, sustainability is part of the experience, and the most memorable moments are often the simplest ones.

Champagne on the Sands

Champagne on the Sands

Begin the day on a deserted island or private sandbank with a Champagne breakfast at sunrise. It is simple, quiet and almost impossible to recreate anywhere else.

Robinson Crusoe Picnic

Robinson Crusoe Picnic

A private boat takes guests to an uninhabited island for a castaway picnic beneath the sun. Swim, snorkel or sit in the shade while your dedicated chef prepares lunch.

Dinner by Fire

Dinner by Fire

A private beach BBQ can be arranged on the sand, with grills prepared by Soneva's culinary team. Menus can move from freshly caught seafood to plant-based dishes, shaped around the group.

Moonrise Sandbank Dinner

Moonrise Sandbank Dinner

Dinner can be set on an uninhabited island or private sandbank at moonrise, full moon or under a sky filled with stars. The setting does most of the work.

The Wine Cellar

The Wine Cellar

At The Wine Cellar in Out of This World, a private dinner can be paired with a personal selection of wines. Smaller groups can also arrange tastings with wine and cheese, chocolate, sake, whisky, gin or rum.

Stories of Dhipparufushi

Stories of Dhipparufushi

Dine beneath the stars as a Barefoot Guardian shares the story of Dhipparufushi, from its geological origins to the folklore and traditions shaped by the surrounding sea. It brings the island into the evening, not just the table.

The Big 5 Ocean Safari

The Big 5 Ocean Safari

Search for the Maldives' marine Big 5: dolphins, sharks, turtles, manta rays and whales. The route can move through secluded shoals, bays and coves, with time to snorkel where conditions are right.

Marine Conservation

Marine Conservation

Guests can join Soneva's marine biologist for coral nursery tours, coral planting and guided reef discovery. Children can take part as Junior Marine Biologists, learning through the water rather than a classroom.

Private Dolphin Cruise

Private Dolphin Cruise

Cruise into deeper waters at sunrise or sunset to watch dolphins in the softest light of the day. Refreshments can be served on board, with Champagne and caviar added on request.

The Secret Day

The Secret Day

Soneva's team can curate a completely personalised secret itinerary for the group. Guests only discover the day as it unfolds, from private activities to special menus and unexpected island moments.

A World for Children

A World for Children

Younger guests can have underwater treasure hunts, marine biology classes, water sports, cooking classes, cultural storytelling, sand painting, jewellery-making from ocean waste and cinema nights. It gives children their own version of the island.

The Night Sky

The Night Sky

The resident astronomer can guide guests across the universe from the shore, villa or a private setup. Stargazing can be paired with a midnight picnic, sunrise breakfast or a quiet dinner under the open sky.

What to Expect

The Island, Lived as a Rare Experience

The stay begins with a sense that the island has already learned your group. Villas are prepared, preferences are understood, and each household has its own team. From the first evening, the pace belongs to the people who came.

Days are built from choice, not schedule. Some guests may join a marine conservation expedition, others may take a cooking class, go diving, follow dolphins, sail a catamaran or spend the day with children at The Den. A smaller group can disappear to a sandbank while the rest of the island moves quietly around lunch, treatments and swims.

Evenings are where the buyout becomes unforgettable. One night can be a Maldivian dinner with stories around the campfire, another a wine-paired dinner at The Wine Cellar, another a moonrise dinner on the sand. For the final night, the island can gather everyone by fire, music, lanterns and the sea.

The Island Reserved Day by Day

This is a sample seven-night rhythm for a Soneva Secret buyout. Each day is shaped around the group, the season, the weather, marine conditions and the final arrangements confirmed before arrival.

Day 1
Day 1

Arrive by seaplane over the atoll, with the island already prepared for your group. Each household is welcomed into its villa by its dedicated team, with time to swim, unpack and settle into the first evening. Dinner is kept close to the water, unhurried and private.

Day 2
Day 2

The first full day begins on a deserted island or private sandbank with a Champagne sunrise breakfast. Later, guests return to the island for swimming, spa treatments, children's activities and time in the villas. The evening becomes a beach dinner and BBQ, with toes in the sand, the sound of the waves and the whole group gathered properly for the first time.

Day 3

The day is built around the water. Guests can join a Big 5 Ocean Safari in search of dolphins, sharks, turtles, manta rays and whales, or take a private guided snorkelling expedition through the atoll. Younger guests can join an underwater treasure hunt in the lagoon before the evening slows into a private in-villa cinema or relaxed dinner.

Day 4
Day 4

Begin with Soneva's Slow Life Journey through the Eco Centro, learning how the island turns waste into value and how sustainability sits at the centre of the resort. Continue to nearby Makunudhoo for a local lunch, or arrange a fishing experience with a local crew and traditional specialities. At night, gather around a campfire for a private cultural Maldivian dinner, with storytelling before a feast on the sand.

Day 5
Day 5

A private boat takes part of the group to an uninhabited island for a Robinson Crusoe picnic, prepared by a dedicated chef. Dinner is held at The Wine Cellar in Out of This World, with a personalised menu and wine pairings beneath the night sky.

Day 6
Day 6

The morning can be spent with Soneva's resident marine biologist, visiting the coral nursery, planting coral and snorkelling over the reef to understand the underwater world more closely. For children, the Junior Marine Biologist experience makes conservation feel alive and memorable. Later, the island can create a personalised series of moments, menus and surprises revealed only as they happen.

Day 7
Day 7

The final full day is left open for whatever the group loved most: diving, spa, water sports, paddleboarding, cooking classes, sailing or quiet time in the villas. As evening arrives, dinner is set on a deserted island or private sandbank at sea, with lanterns in the sand, low table settings and the company close beneath the night sky.

Day 8
Day 8

Breakfast is served slowly before departure. The island team handles luggage, transfers and final details, allowing guests to leave without hurry. The week ends without ceremony, which somehow makes it even more special.

The Story

Barefoot Luxury, Taken Further

Soneva changed the language of luxury in the Maldives. When Soneva Fushi opened in 1995, Sonu and Eva Shivdasani introduced a different idea of island life: no heavy formality, no polished distance, no need for luxury to feel dressed up. It became known for the spirit of barefoot luxury, where guests could leave their shoes behind and still feel looked after at the highest level.

That philosophy is still the thread running through Soneva Secret. The island is not designed to impress through spectacle alone. It is built around space, nature and privacy, with each day shaped by two ideas: that an experience should feel unusual enough to be worth the journey, and true enough to stay with a guest long after they leave.

A full buyout takes that idea to its most complete form. The island becomes a place where children can be barefoot from morning to night, where dinner can happen on a sandbank under the moon, where a marine biologist can turn the reef into a living classroom, and where an astronomer can close the evening beneath the stars. It is not luxury that asks to be admired. It is luxury that gives people time, freedom and something they will actually remember.
